Mas Comtal is a historic family-run winery in Catalunya’s Penedès wine region, deeply rooted in centuries-old viticultural tradition and dedicated to producing high-quality organic wines and classic Penedès sparkling wines.

Located at Avinyonet del Penedès with picturesque views of the Montserrat massif and the Garraf hills, Mas Comtal sits within about 40 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards on chalky, well-drained soils roughly 350 m above sea level. The estate has been in the Milà family since at least 1355 and winegrowing here goes back through many generations. The Masia has Roman origins, located on the Via Augusta road between Tarragona and Barcelona. After a long history of vine cultivation, the family revived the old cellar in 1993, committing to producing bottled wines with distinctive character and high quality. Since then, they’ve developed a reputation for wines that reflect both tradition and innovation, including organic still wines, sparkling wines under the Clàssic Penedès designation, and creative project ranges.

Mas Comtal is known for its respectful and sustainable viticulture—avoiding herbicides and systemic fungicides, using organic fertilisers, and encouraging biodiversity in the vineyards. This environmentally conscious approach is certified by the Catalan organic authority (CCPAE).
