Vinyes dels Aspres
Vinyes dels Aspres is a family-run winery and vineyard located in Cantallops, in the Alt Empordà area of Catalonia’s DO Empordà wine region. Nestled at the northernmost edge of this Mediterranean territory, the estate’s vineyards grow on granite and slate soils shaped by the Tramontana wind, contributing to wines with vibrant character and strong sense of place.
The winery is based at Can Batlle, a historic 17th-century masia (farmhouse) where wine, olive oil and cork were produced for generations. After a period of selling grapes to cooperatives, the family restored the estate in the late 1990s and re-established winemaking on site, blending traditional methods with modern vinification techniques.
All of the grapes used come from family-owned vineyards (around 30–37 ha) managed with care to express the local terroir. The plantings include traditional Empordà varieties such as Grenache (in its white, red and black forms), Carinyena (Carignan), and other grapes like Picapoll Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, allowing the winery to produce a wide range of wines — from fresh whites and rosés to structured reds and even sweet wines.
Vinyes dels Aspres’ portfolio includes labels such as Oriol (white, rosé and red), Xot Blanc and Xot Negre, Blanc dels Aspres, Negre dels Aspres, S’Alou, and distinctive sweet or specialty wines like Vi de Panses and Bac de les Ginesteres, each reflecting different facets of the region’s climate, soils and winemaking traditions.
