Roig Parals
Roig Parals is a family-run winery and vineyard in Catalunya, located in the village of Mollet de Peralada in the Empordà wine region of northern Catalonia. It has a long history rooted in generations of winemaking tradition, with the family’s involvement in vineyards here dating back to the late 19th century when the great-grandfather replanted vines after the phylloxera crisis using resistant rootstocks and Carinyena (Carignan) cuttings brought from France.
The estate’s vineyards lie around the village, covering roughly 10–14 hectares of land planted with a mix of traditional and international grape varieties. These include Carinyena (Carignan/Samsó) — the variety the winery is particularly known for — along with white Grenache, Macabeo, Lledoner (Grenache gris), Moscatel d’Alexandria, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Roig Parals places strong emphasis on organic and sustainable viticulture as part of its philosophy, seeking to produce wines that truly reflect the local terroir and Mediterranean climate shaped by the region’s soils and the Tramontana wind.
The winery produces a range of still wines under various labels, including Mallolet, La Botera and Camí de Cormes, with notable offerings such as centenary vine Carinyena wines and expressive white and rosé bottlings.
Roig Parals also welcomes visitors by appointment for tours and tastings, offering an intimate experience of the vineyards, cellar and wines — ideal for those wanting to explore authentic Empordà winemaking.
Overall, Roig Parals represents a heritage Catalan vineyard winery that blends family tradition, respect for the land, and a desire to craft wines that embody the character of the Empordà region.
